2009 Stimulus Package Includes Increased Incentives for Wind Power
New law provides homeowners and businesses with a 30% tax credit off the installed cost of a Skystream 3.7
The American Recovery and Re-investment Act of 2009 allows consumers and small businesses to take a 30% tax credit off the installed cost of a wind turbine.
This doubles the credit to a consumer or business purchasing a single wind turbine or multiple units! The credit applies to the total installed cost including equipment and labor. This new tax break can help lower your initial investment by several thousand dollars.
Any Skystream installed in 2009 through 2016 is eligible for a credit up to 30% of the installed cost of the wind turbine. This credit can be applied against taxes owed.
This savings also applies to multiple units – there is no cap on the 30% tax credit.
Couple the federal tax credit with local and/or state incentives, and you could save even more!
Additionally, consumers and businesses will also have the option of receiving their credit in the form of a cash grant. The federal government expects to release information about the grant program by April.
